SENTENCE - GRAMMAR INTRODUCTION

Sentence:

• A sentence is a group of words that makes complete sense.
• A sentence has a complete meaning.
• A sentence always begins with a capital letter.

EXAMPLES:

1.The boy is drinking.

2.May god bless you.

KINDS OF SENTENCE:

There are four kinds of sentences:

1.Assertive sentence

2.Interrogative sentence

3.Exclamatory sentence

4.Imperative sentence.

• Assertive sentence

A Simple statement can be called an assertive sentence.

EXAMPLE:

Parrot is a beautiful bird.

• Interrogative sentence

The sentence that is used to ask question is called an interrogative sentence.

EXAMPLE:

What is your opinion?

• Exclamatory sentence

The sentence which  expresses strong feeling or emotion such as sorrow,joy,surprise,wonder,contempt etc.is called an exclamatory.

EXAMPLE:

Bravo!well done.

• Imperative sentence

The sentence which expresses order,command,request,advice or suggestion is called an Imperative sentence.

EXAMPLE:

Open the door (order)

please help me (request)
